Assumptions

I am well on my way on my journey to fitness. I've adjusted my mindset, eat healthily and have created a fitness routine that I stick to.
I cook (healthily) from scratch every night, pack a lunch with health snacks. Fitness routine is hikes (6+ miles) a couple of times a month, hema (historical european martial arts), strength and fitness training indoors, yoga and zumba.
I still have a way to go and quite a bit more weight to lose but I'm in the best shape I've been for years. My mental attitude is the best it's been for years!
Despite that, I went for a regular check up with the nurse at the doctors (it's a yearly thing that I have to), saw a different nurse to the one I normally see and instead of concentrating on my successes, she made lots of assumptions and basically accused me of lying about the healthy eating and fitness routine despite me losing 12lbs this year already! She also 'had a word' with me about comfort eating (I don't). There was nothing in our conversation to suggest that I might comfort eat, she just looked at me, judged that I'm fat and gave me a pep talk on comfort eating!
I came away laughing at the cluelessness of this woman. Hubby, however, was very angry and he probably has a point.
If this was a few years ago I'd have far less confidence and I would be heartbroken about the attitude of this so called health professional. It would have sent me home reaching for the biscuits and devaluing the progress that I've made so far.
It isn't good that even now, this is the approach to people who are overweight - judgement instead of support and judging everything they say to be untrue.
Just a rant really and to encourage people to celebrate their own successes. Don't let the attitudes of others get you down. I'm not going to but I hope this nurse doesn't trample on the success of somebody else who is just getting started on their journey
