4kg

I feel ridiculous because for over a year I've been trying and failing to lose 4kg. The most I've lost in that time is 1kg. I know 4kg isn't much, especially as people here are trying to lose so much more.

I'm bored to tears with my exercise (walking and weight training), I used to run but short tendons mean it's too painful for me, even walking uphill is painful. My bf suggested group fitness classes but they make me so unbelievable anxious (I have mild anxiety and depression) even watching one he suggested made me nearly hyperventilate. Logically I know they'd be good because it'll provide variety and motivation but my anxiety kicks in. I don't have a friend to go with either to "hold my hand".

Then we have the food, I actually can't say no. I don't eat too much, just enough that means that I stay the same weight. I know I should eat slightly less, but I struggle to say no and then hate myself when my weight stays the same. I get so hungry, even yesterday after a large lunch that finished at 2pm I was hungry (hunger pains so not just bored hunger) by 4pm. My bf says that I just need to get through the hunger but I struggle to focus at work because of it.

I can't really get advice from my partner, he trains professional athletes for a living so his reasoning is "I just have to do it" because that's how he works and what he sees every day. His reasoning is that I just don't want it badly enough and I do but I'm exhausted from boring exercise and feeling like a failure because I can't say no to a glass of wine.

Money is also a bit of an issue, a PT or expensive gym is out of my range. I feel overwhelmed yet annoyed at myself constantly. Even reading this, it sounds like all excuses.

Have you tried Youtube exercise videos? If 4 kilos is all you have to lose, you can't lose fast/sustain a large deficit. You're not supposed to/can't starve yourself; you have to take it slowly and be very meticulous when you log your food. 1/4 kg per week is a good rate. When you consider "water weight" can fluctuate with up to a couple of kilos in the course of a few days, you'll realize how patient you have to be.

Can't say no to food/drink? To yourself, or when you're offered food? You have to say "no" more often if you want to lose those last pounds. If you're comfortable with your current weight, you can say "no" less often.

I have weighed myself daily for over a year and averaged it out to get a better understanding of how my weight changed day-to-day. I had to stop doing that as it made me obsessed and stressed out.

I used to be able to do it fine, I used to be able to stick to a deficit easily, I never even used to weigh my food, just guessing was enough. Now I feel like at 4kg heavier I'm less motivated and less disciplined despite wanting it more. I'm also tired of waking up at 5:30am to work out or go for a walk, I feel like I do more now than I did when I was lighter yet getting nowhere!
