Gray cotton suit. Not every suit has to be worsted wool. This one shows what I mean by "adult garanimals". Gray (suit), blue (small check in shirt, tie, and pocket square), and brown (shoes, belt) mix wonderfully and rarely clash...it's always a safe, complimentary group of colors to work from. Instead of wearing a big, loud tie I've got a small pocket square. Again, the blues compliment but don't match.
Man, I learned so much from this one post. Also my favorite suit that you posted. I have been hunting for ties & squares to go with my new suit & have not been pleased with the selections on sets that I have found. I literally feel relieved that I don't have to match them. One of these days I'll hit my goals & I want a nice full custom suit, but in the mean time, I'm now armed with a little bit of freedom in that area. I really wish I could take you with me when I go looking for my next suit.
P.S. - The dappered.com site is an unending rabbit hole. I've been lost in information over there for hours now.1 -

Glad you liked what you've read. Actually, seeing that suit in photos here helped me realize how well it fits me. Too bad the company that made it went under. :sad:
This all makes me wonder when we'll see a Dresses thread. Seems only fair that @Avocado_AS5 should have to make her home into a runway and page me everytime there's a new pretty dress for me to peruse. :bigsmile:
I'm in North TX area & I concur. The Dress thread should be a thing too.

A mistake many guys make is in putting too much flair in the tie. The wild pieces should be either small (like a pocket square, where they peek out) or covered by another layer (like a more aggressive plaid in a shirt would be covered by a jacket or waistcoat). A tie is really an accessory, just like a pocket square, so having wild action going on both usually doesn't work out, and a wild tie is a lot of real estate.
IMO, dark suit, dark tie is hard to get too wrong, provided they aren't both black. Charcoal suit+white shirt+black grenadine tie+white linen square=easy and nails.
IMO, another issue is not showing enough shirt cuff when wearing a jacket.1 -
