62 isn’t that much. And most of it is from sugar.

That said, pears are all different sizes and your best bet is to weigh it to see how many calories it would be.

This. Not quite a pear, but I’ve had apples of the exact same type that were as low as 48 kcals, and some as high as 113. I may or may not have issues, given that my scale weighs to the tenth of a gram.

I would definitely weigh it, for a long time I was logging a generic "medium apple" and when I got a scale and weighed it the calorie count was usually much different than what I had been logging.

Most pears are pretty big. 62 seems not many calories given that. Actually, most pears I eat are at least 100.

Depends on the size of your pear. Where'd you get 62?

    62 calories isn't a lot of calories...

Also, pears like other fruits come in different sizes...not every pear is going to be XX calories...

^^This. My guess would be closer to 100 as well.

Yes, I weigh my pears and I would say on rough average the pears I buy are 70-100 calories per pear.

Sometimes "healthy food" shocks us with calorie counts because marketing machines like Weight Watchers lead us to believe some foods are "free."

Pears are delicious, but defs account for them in your calories.

62 calories is going to be a very small pear. Your best bet is to weigh the pear as others have mentioned, and log the number of grams you ate. As you can see from the database, just typing in "pear" gives you entries that range from about 80-100 because they're based on average pear sizes.

If you just log 62 calories, then you could be underestimating by 50 calories or so. Depending on your calorie goals, that may or may not be an acceptable margin of error. But if you eat lots of pears, that error would add up very fast.

It is a good habit to get into if you're trying to lose weight. Many people are underestimating their calories, but don't realize it until they start weighing their food. It may seem strange and tedious at first, but it does become easier as you get used to it.

No need to find time, it literally takes a couple seconds :)

It takes like half a second to put something on a kitchen scale...

Pears can be a variety of calories. To get closer to an accurate reading measure it. And yes lots of fruit are on the "high" calorie side for healthy snacks because they have a lot of sugar! If you want a lower calorie alternative eat vegetables.
