Hi so I'm getting a tattoo on my ribs in 3 months and i want to look you know better so I can take cute pictures and not feel embarrased about showing it to people. So my question is if im overweight should i focus on losing weight in those months or body training to idk gain muscle in my stomach area ? Would that even work if I have a layer of fat on top?

A lean body isn't build in the gym, it's made in the kitchen. Count calories. Eat 90:10 healthy (90% healthy all week, 10% a week of non healthy for ONE meal to prevent insanity).
Yoyo weight gain is caused by lack of kitchen and food knowledge.

Just eat at a calorie deficit and lose some weight

You won't build any significant muscle on the ribs/stomach without a few years of lifting.

    Just eat in a deficit.
