Hi,
I love a coffee or two though out the day. I just have it with milk. Obviously you hear black coffee suppresses your appetite but alot of diets cut caffeine. Any thoughts appreciated.

No need to eliminate caffeine. The horror! Just track the calories from the milk you add and you're good.17

Coffee is fine if you like it. Just make sure to account for the milk in your calories and all's well.
My day just isn't right if I don't have my 2 coffees (1 at breakfast and 1 at lunch) per day. I've lost nearly 80lbs6 -
Coffe weight los plan.
Me without coffee.
Me killing someone
Me eating jail food
Me losing weight.
Coffee is fine. Just log whatever you add. I have mine black.24 -
Gosh, I hope so. I drank it the whole time I was losing 40+ pounds and just about every day since then while I've been maintaining that loss.
A lot of diets cut things that are pleasurable because they know we associate weight loss with unhappiness and deprivation. Some diet designers think a diet will look more effective to us if we have to cut out things we enjoy, like caffeine.
Enjoy your coffee. Just log whatever you add to it and account for it in your calories.7 -

The only affect coffee will have on you losing weight is the calories of what you put in it, so log it.
I think most diets that cut caffeine are intended to determine food allergies or diagnose "alternative health" conditions. I'd guess if a weight loss diet cut caffeine, it would be assuming you were drinking a fancy coffee drink with a ton of calories. I've never heard of straight up coffee being a weight loss issue.
I drink coffee or tea daily, sometimes with milk :drinker:3 -

Don't know why that would be...caffeine has nothing to do with your weight...
Coffee is chock full of antioxidants...2 -

Ditto, except I don't drink mine black. The world isn't ready for me without coffee in the morning.3 -
OMG - what diet cuts caffeine? That's just unconscionable! If a diet can't allow for unsweetened iced tea, hot teas, and black coffee then you need to look for a different diet!1

I began drinking coffee in the Army, and it was really awful, but after drinking hundreds of gallons of it over the years, I actually grew to like it. I still enjoy it black and ultra-strong. I wonder if jail coffee is similar? Not that I plan on finding out...3 -
That depends on the diet - as you say, a lot of diets cut caffeine. Don't go on a diet. To lose weight, you just have to eat less.1

The only reason why coffee would hinder weight loss is if you're adding things to it that exceed your calories for the day.1

Black coffee is a diuretic as much as water is a diuretic. I have for many years been consuming copious amounts of black coffee each day. My weight loss efforts are connected the calories I consume and expend, not to the volume of black coffee or water I consume and discharge.4

No to green tea helping with belly fat. That's a myth. The rest ????????5 -
Question does not compute! LOL. I wouldn't give up my coffee for anything.3

There are many things I’ve changed, but I will not change my coffee. I weigh mine! I put my cup with the coffee on the scale, press tare, and add half and half until I reach my preferred 2 oz. My coffee is 114 calories with the half and half plus 2 tsp sugar. I log it every day, and I’ve lost 37 lbs since September. Save your sanity and keep the coffee!3

Completely forgot i posted this, thanks for the replies. Needless to say i kept drinking my coffees!2

I have a delicious homemade latte with 1.5 t sugar every morning and have lost 25 lbs in the last three months—mmmmmm!2

Me without coffee is almost like a day without sunshine. Coffee is fine. I drink my coffee black, but if you add sugar or special creamers, you might have to limit the things that you add in your coffee. It can add the calories that many people don't realize.1

Pretty much the only effective and legal weight loss supplement is caffeine.
Other than medically dictated diets (for heartburn/reflux, heart/BP issues, elimination diets for allergy diagnosis, etc.), the only reason a "diet" should eliminate caffeine is if it insists on being one of those "fat is sin, so 'clean eating' is your penance" ones.
JMO, naturally.3
