I'm trying to do things differently, since the old way didn't work out so good.
So first try: I made rigatoni for lunch. But instead of boiling the whole box, I measured out one serving (2 ounces dry sure doesn't look like much!
). Instead of having a big spoonful (or 2) of sauce as I waited for the pasta to boil, I didn't have any.
I had one bird ball (the credit for this recipe goes to mudhustler_official), and it was a filling lunch. I don't feel stuffed like I do when I don't measure, but just dump it in a bowl. It was a good mix of carbs and protein, and it's something I love, so I don't feel deprived. And no leftovers! If I want more, I have to make it.
I freeze these in a freezer zip lock bag and take out one at a time.
20 oz. Ground Turkey, 99% Lean
16 oz Ground Chicken Breast, 98% Lean
1/2 Cup Bread Crumbs
1/2 Cup Grated Romano
2 Eggs
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients.
Form into 12 balls.
Place balls in muffin tin.
Bake at 400 for 20 minutes.
Is there anything you're doing differently to try to make small changes for the better?

Good job!
But the no leftovers thing I don't get. If you are going through all that work why not pack up a meal for tomorrow or even the freezer?0 -
Doing differently as in making swaps? I always use egg whites + one egg to up the protein and decrease the cals. My morning coffee was my biggest switch - always specifying milk type and keeping pumps of syrup to a minimum. I never eat a carb without eating a protein too, always my main priority when choosing meals.

Yeah, I hear you about that. But sometimes if I make it, I eat it, especially on the weekend...I can't always be trusted with food around
When I'm working, I usually do what you suggest, and do a prep on Sunday for the week.1 -

Thanks! I'm trying to do anything different to make things easier, or more healthy, or to take away or minimize temptation.
I still have my International vanilla caramel coffee, even though it's a lot of sugar. I track it and only have one cup. Was it hard for you to change over your coffee?
I like the idea of a carb and a protein...carbs are the devil0 -
Do it the way that works for you. You have no obligation to explain yourself to anyone.2

Changing coffee wasn't too hard for me. I am able to make "hacks" for most of my favorites. I even found a way to sneak in a macchiato here and there (I bring an Oh Yeah Vanilla Protein Shake that comes pre-bottled and have them use that instead of the sweetened milk). I don't like super sweet coffee so it really wasn't that bad. Biggest tip would be sugar-free syrups.
LOL I am definitely a huge carb fan. I just have found that adding in protein every time I eat a carb tends to keep me full longer. Subbing out pastas for chickpea pasta, or zoodles is convenient too. My new addiction is also cauliflower tots!0
