Muscle adaptation after weight loss.

I was reading a research paper by Hirsch and
Libeil. It stated that muscle become better on running on less fuel. 20-30% I think the numbers were. Has anyone here actually calculated what they burn per hour exercising? I think that you could get a good idea by VOX testing, correct?
