Hey
I've just joined MFP and am looking for a few new pals to join me if anyone's interested? I'm 35, I've been dieting for about 2 weeks now and I seem to be tootling along quite well (lost 10 lbs so far: water weight, I know!) and I'm looking to lose about 100 lbs, increase my strength and endurance as well as reduce my body fat %. I'm working on lifting weights (just 5 kg ones right now, I'm just beginning - first goal is to get to 10 kg), eating healthily (I'm teaching myself how to cook) and be less of a carb monster! Cardio isn't a priority for me at present - I used to enjoy walking and, in the past, the cross trainer, but I badly injured my foot in last autumn and have only just got rid of the walking stick. Soon though I like to think I'll be out walking again and on the cross trainer. My main motivation is health: I've been a terrible eater (portion sizes, I'd say, were the main culprit, along with carbs. I actually don't eat that much sugar) and a worse cook, have bad knees as a consequence which can only get worse if I don't change my habits, and I very much hate being so out of shape. I'm really excited about the strength training and cooking - turns out I enjoy cooking so all those processed meals and lazy pizzas were a bit of a waste
Also I love reading (the older the book the better: if there's any bookworms out there I'd love to add you!), I'm a pescatarian (I eat fish but no other meat), and I keep rescued ex-battery chickens (they're adorable!).
So, if you'd like to add me please do - I'd love to have some people to cheer along whilst I'm on my journey
