Lemon Water

I used to drink almost only lemon water a couple years ago because of the benefits I read about but then after further research I read that it needed to be warm water and other things needed to be added to it, etc.
I don’t drink nearly enough water now - about 1/2 of what I should be - so I’m setting a goal to drink a gallon of water a day. This is way more than I believe I need but I want to try it anyway.
Does anyone drink lemon water? Do you notice any benefits vs regular water? Is there anything you do specifically to yours such as using lemon juice or whole lemons or how many? Curious as to how different we all are in how we do this and the benefits.
I’ve been drinking regular water today and might just stick with regular if there’s no real difference.

The lemon does't do anything magical... it is supposed to help in the mornings taken in hot water if you have problems going to loo but mostly its just to add taste to the water.2

There are a lot of health benefits in lemons and if it helps you drink more water then there's nothing wrong with drinking lemon water, but don't expect some miracle weight loss from it.7

lemon does nothing but add flavor, even if it's in hot water. That's it. There is no magical benefit. I drink it all the time because I like the taste. Nothing special has happened. So if you like the way it tastes, keep drinking it.6

I use it to up my water intake. Our water here isn't exactly great. I've been told that I need to drink half of my body weight in ounces of water per day. You could float a ship off of me!0

I have a fruit infuser water pitcher I got from Bed bath & beyond and I use it constantly. I love to fill it with lemon slices, fresh mint, and cucumber. I find it refreshing, but I don't believe there's any benefits other than making my taste buds happy.1

Remember also that your water goal should include most liquids (excluding alcohol, of course), not just plain water... coffee, diet soda, etc.3

Hydration is a good thing, ignore all the hype about 2 litres/8 cups a day, you should be guaging your hydration by the colour of your urine.
As for drinking a gallon of water? IMHO it’s too much, you should be doing it as above and not setting yourself an arbitrary target.2 -
I do... because I like the way it tastes and a bottle of lemon juice costs next to nothing.0

Thanks Anvil, I was wrong with the "excluding alcohol, of course" in my comment above. This is why I love the boards, I'm always learning something new!0 -

If you're reading things like that, I'd look for better sources . . . and I mean that in the kindest possible way, like a caring granny (likely I'm old enough to be yours ).
A gallon of water a day is a lot. If you drink enough water (including not just pure water, but other liquids, including high-water-content foods, etc.) that your urine is pale yellow (straw color or lighter) and you don't feel thirsty, you are very likely just fine. Though needs vary (depending on body size, occupation, workouts, weather, etc.), a gallon daily is substantially more water than most people need to drink on its own (on top of other hydration sources in foods and such).
I drink water with a lemon or lime wedge in it pretty much every day (one wedge, all at-home glasses of water, which is usually 7-8 cups). It tastes nicer to me that way. That's the only material benefit: Tasting nice. Cold or hot, doesn't matter. In fact, drinking it cold will burn more calories . . . like maybe 1 more calorie, tops, so the temperature of the water isn't very important, either. Drink it how you like it.1 -
