I just want to say 'Thank You' to MyFitnessPal and the community here! This app rocks. I'm new here, never heard of MFP before 5 weeks ago when a friend told me about it. Since then I've been ALL IN. I was ready for a change, and this app was the key that made it work for me.

Progress: After 36 days, I've lost 9 lbs and feel SO much stronger & fitter. It's been tough (especially resisting the urge to snack on high-calorie items in the afternoons) but reading the posts from those of you who have had success and maintained it for years is so motivating. Also I love the accountability that the app gives. I've never counted calories before (seemed too tedious!), so this has been a game-changer for me.

About me: 47 year old mom of 2 young teen boys. Got stuck in bad habits, too many sweets, too much wine, not enough exercise. Weight gradually rose to a rather un-fit 148 lbs (I'm 5'6") and have been frustrated to find my clothes aren't fitting right and surprised at how I look in pictures. Vanity is a motivator! Also was having more aches & pains and feeling sluggish - I like to think of myself as a healthy person so what was going on!?

What I've done:
*Logged all food, stayed within my calorie goal almost every day.
*Exercised every day - at the very least, 30 min of brisk walking. Also been doing 1.2-mile runs about 4 times a week, a weekly kickboxing class, and occasional bar method & yoga classes. So grateful I have the time & flexibility to fit in lots of exercise.
*Been eating TONS of vegetables, cut WAY back on the sugar & alcohol.

Goal: I'm at 139 lbs now, and my goal weight is 127. I'd like to get there by summer. So happy to have MFP to help get me there and also to help me maintain once I reach my goal.

Thanks MFP community!

Love seeing this!! I’ve been trying to find my groove again to lose what I gained back and then get down to my final goal weight after losing 140, maintaining for a year and a half, then gaining 20 back. Glad you’re feeling so good!! Makes the struggles so worth it!

Thanks abirdintherain - it seems like overall you are on a great path and I hope you find your groove again! I tend to find it works for me to go all on something, lots of big changes all at once, instead of small incremental ones that are easy to stop. Then even if it doesn't all stick into a long term habit at least I am still making progress. So for me it's hard workouts - something that pushes me really hard. And focusing on nutrition, getting as many veggies into my diet as I possibly can. Oh and I'm loving la croix. What works for you?
