Hello everyone, I have been gaining and losing weight as long as I can remember, sometimes successfully but mostly not so much. I did get down to my ideal weight and kept it off for five years. I am now 63 and weigh in at 234 pounds. My doctor says I should weigh 160, ideally. I've lost 17 pounds so far this round over the last month or so. A friend from elementary school says I have lost and gained more weight than anyone he has ever known. At this point, I know I need help so here I am. I hope to be an active member, track food and exercise and participate in the forms. Thank you very much if you've read this far.

Hi and welcome!
Read this one, it's a goody>>> http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p11 -
make sure you check out the maintenance board when you get close to goal. Most people think of dieting as a finite plan, leading to regain. Seems that most people who manage to keep it off go into maintenance with a plan, continue to monitor their weight, and come back if they get out of their "happy range"
