Looking for motivation - I've failed before! Looking to lose 2 stone plus

Hi, I'm looking for support as I try and finally lose weight!

I'm 39 years old, 5'4'' and have spent most of my adult life at 12st6lbs. However I bust my ankle a couple of years ago and went up to 14st or so: I tried really hard last year to lose the additional weight without success. Or rather, I lost and gained again the same 6 pounds, then put on ANOTHER 4 pounds. I was using myfitnesspal and not cheating, exercising regularly so it was a mystery why it wasn't working.

So I started this year again, this time giving up alcohol completely until I lose 2 stone (figuring it might be affecting my metabolism beyond the calories), and eating more vegan food. I weighed 14st7lbs on 1 January - today I weigh 13st9lbs which is the point I never went below last year.

When I get to 12st6lbs I'm wondering whether I should keep going - I know a healthy weight is well below but the idea of starting on a 5 stone weight loss journey just seems too hard. I'd appreciate advice from people of whether having shorter goals then reconsidering works or whether I'd be best off setting myself a stretch goal.

At this point I'm just trying to break through this barrier! I'm really motivated to lose the weight - I want to lose it for health reasons, as I've had a number of minor health complaints recently all of which obesity is a risk factor for. I just want to be healthier. All tips will be received with great thanks!
