I find that the earlier i eat, the hungrier i am throughout the day. I wouldnt be surprised if it really does kick start your metablism, but that probably means that you just want to eat more. Im with everyone else...eat when your hungry and calorie intake determines weightloss.....as a side note, pretty interesting that cereal was started in sanatoriums and used to stop people from "getting hairy palms"

I don’t see a link to the actual study. I don’t trust rags like Psychology Today for my information source.

Study is linked in the article:
    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28701389

PT is hardly a "rag"; it's as legit as pop-science mags come.

Nah. Weight loss is strictly a math game with calories. Check out intermittent fasting. There are different kinds, but 16/8 every day works for me. That means I fast for 16 hours, then eat for 8 hours. I get up for work at 4 am, don't eat until lunch at noon, a snack at 3, then dinner around 7 when I get home. Then I'm done at 8pm. It has made me feel absolutely amazing. I'm mentally sharp, it helps me eat less calories, and it's one less meal to prep for work because I don't have to worry about breakfast. Look it up! It sounds like something that may work for you and it is known to have numerous health benefits. A lot of mainstream "health advice" is bogus so I wouldn't worry too much if you just don't like breakfast. Good luck!

    Exactly my experience as well.

It helps you lose weight if eating it makes you less likely to overeat the rest of the day or resort to high calorie snacks before lunch without accounting for them. Some people fall in that category, others don't. Keep to your calories and everything will be fine. How you choose to structure your meals is up to you.

No its not necessary to eat breakfast, it IS necessary to stay consistently within calorie allowance/ be in calorie deficit to lose. Meal timing doesn't matter.

Food is energy. When I wake up, I need to eat something or I'm sluggish all morning and burn fewer calories. I don't like cereal or oatmeal when I first get up because they don't seem to give me the same energy and are not as filling as something like salmon on crackers or a sausage with a slice of bread. I keep it small but find that I have more energy when I eat after waking. That means I'm bouncier, burn more calories, and can eat more and still lose or maintain my weight. So I don't think it's a total myth, just misunderstood. If breakfast doesn't make you more energetic you might want to skip it. If you find yourself dragging mid morning breakfast might put some pep in your step, resulting in a higher calorie out situation.
