Hey all,
My name is Steve and I am addicted to food. My starting weight was 282 lbs.
I am diabetic type 2
Cholesterol is up there.
High blood pressure.
As I said I am addicted to food. Not just eating it but creating it.
You should see my collection of cooking stuff. BBQ, Blackstone Griddle, Deep fryer, Pizza oven outdoors. For indoors I have 3 different coffee makers, a power pressure pot, ect ect ect.
I go on camping trips with friends and I am the cook! I love to create new things. You should see the breakfast pizzas I made on our last trip!
I use to be skinny when I was younger. Not so much now.
I tried all the diets. Atkins worked great for me but I hit a wall and in one month it did not budge. Then yup.. Slowly I put it back on.
So here I am again. What is my motivation? Well being type 2 I watch my sugar levels. On Adkins they dropped off to almost normal range. I got off most medication and was very happy to get off the once a week injection. (that cost me $150 for a 3 month supply)
BTW did I mention I HATE the health insurance plan my work has? $1200 a month for 2 of us. Then go to the doctor and it is $45.00 Plus Plus Plus. Specialist is $85.00. And then there is the part of paying the first $2000.
Sorry ranting!
Back to the present. Here is my motivation!. My sugar levels have been climbing and I am afraid I will need to back on the injection. So I priced the injection and guess what. The price has gone up a bit. A bit to the tune of $2184.00 for a 3 month supply!
So there is my motivation!
So Hi All. I might be here for a bit. I am aiming for a weight loss of about 100 lbs.
So far I have lost 14 lbs since Monday when I started this. But I am suffering a but. I will write about that in a bit.
Steve

Lots of us allowed our inner toddler to run the food part of our lives. You can change that, good for you for finding your bottom and starting to think about your intake.

Just log your food as accurately as you can, try to stick as close as possible to your goals, and Keep Going. Don't try to rush the process, and don't under-eat. That is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. 14 pounds in a week is really high. Get back on track.

Ok you are a cook great. Cooking challenge for you. Your goal is to create filling delicious foods that fit your calorie goals. Go ahead try all sorts of things. I for example find a lot of roasted veggies are amazing . Skip seasoning with oils and butter and experiment with herbs and spices.
Cooks do great at no because we don't get bored because we have the skills to create delicious nutritious food that fills us up and also tastes amazing.
