My goal is 1240 today I had porridge for my breakfast, 1 jackpot potatoe with beans for dinner & 1 chicken wrap with salad for my tea & that was my calories gone for the day. I went to the gym and burnt 425 calories and was still hungry in between meals so had some snacks. Should I keep all my calories I burnt at the gym or is it ok to use some of them when still hungry as I feel it’s pointless going to the gym and burn calories to eat them back?

First, have you set your calorie target correctly? What's your height and weight?

MFP is set for you to lose weight without exercise. When you do exercise, you should be eating at least a portion of those calories back to both fuel your body and keep your deficit consistent. Some people find they can only eat back about half of the calories due to overestimation of what they burned, others can eat them all back.

@malibu927 hi I’ve tried to write this message 3 times now but it’s not letting me write full message so I’ll try again lol.
My goal is to loose 2lb a week and I started this healthy eating and exercise last Saturday and got weighed today and I have lost the 2lb but I just thought I would have lose more with me going to the gym and fitness classes. I’m not sure if that’s because I’m eating back my calories I’ve lost ? Thank you

The thing is that you can't expect to lose 2 pounds per week at your weight - 1.5 pounds is a good goal; if you set 1.5 pounds, you get 1490 calories instead.

@kommodevaran why can’t I loose 2lb a week at my weight? I already have done it so it’s proves I can do it.

Because your fat stores are smaller now. When you lose weight, you break down fat and muscle. You probably want to lose as much fat and as little muscle as possible. When your body has plenty of fat to break down, this is easy. When you get lighter, your body uses less energy, for everything, and you can't sustain the same calorie deficit without losing proportionally more muscle. This is reflected in your increased hunger. MFP should have mentioned this at setup and at least suggested that you pick an appropriate goal. Why it doesn't, is beyond me (but it increases traffic on the forums, so it can be on purpose.) An appropriate weekly weightloss goal is "no more than 1% of your bodyweight".

@kommodevaran Oh so do you mean if I was heavier it would be easier for me to loose 2 pound a week? Thanks

Yes, exactly. You need a lot of patience now - you have to let the process take the time it takes. If you try to force it, you'll be so hungry that you give up and regain. All you have to do to keep losing weight, is to eat less (fewer calories than you burn). It's so much easier to eat less when you aren't hungry. You're also in less of a "hurry" now; your weight is getting healthier day by day. And if health is a concern, you have to eat enough.
