Hi all!
Anyone battling hypothyroidism? In the recent year I gained 50-60 lbs from my untreated thyroid problem. Thankfully, I was just diagnosed a couple weeks ago and have been working on changing my diet and working out. What do you eat? Certainly diets? Any advice is helpful.

As long as you are properly medicated, you should be able to lose weight like normal people; I don’t eat anything specific but just make sure to get adequate protein and fats
  • I have to eat higher protein with carbs coming from fruit/veg only and exercise 5 times a week. I also have to keep my caloric intake to under 1200 a day. (I do not eat back exercise calories) I have been drinking vegan protein shakes for breakfast and lunch since right after the start of the new year and am finally down 11 pounds, still have around 90 to go but it’s coming off finally. Everyone ones body is different so you have to find what works for you and keep at it. Good luck!
  • Hi there. I have hypothyroid caused by hashimotos disease. I've cut out most gluten (I try not to eat any but sometimes it's sneaky) and cut out most dairy. I am feeling much better since i started doing this. Good luck to you:)
  • No, but following some of the same “rules” as KETO.

Take meds exactly per directions, get your thyroid levels where they need to be. Properly medicated, we lose weight just like anyone else does. No special eating plan is universally essential for us hypothyroid folks. I lost weight fine with normal calorie counting, 50+ pounds down at 59-60 in less than a year.
