Fitness Model Workouts: Dump running??

I've been reading through material on female fitness model workouts (I personally want to strengthen my body to this level) and they are consistently against running, saying that it creates flab and eats away at muscle...Thoughts out there?
I feel like I need to run for my body type...a full body workout has been reducing my fat...not sure if now I should change it up and focus strictly on strength training. Also...does anyone think that running is counter productive to maintaining a fit body??

Do you have a goal to be a stronger runner? Then run.
Do you have a goal to gain strength? Then strength train
Do you have a goal to be a fitness model? Then strength train and dial in your diet
Do you have a goal for strength and overall fitness? Then eat well, strength train, do conditioning and mobility work0
