Logging Chinese Food?

Hello All! I'm planning on having Chinese tonight at the buffet. I have a pretty good game plan to keep my calories low. Mainly hitting the hibachi & sushi grill and loading up on the veggies. But my question is, how in the heck do you log that? Looking through the database really made my head spin. The entries were all over the place, and I had a hard time finding what I was looking for even when looking under chain restaurants such as PF Chang's or Panda Express. Most entries seemed to be listed as "plate", or "per 100g" some were by the cup, but who the heck knows if that's right or not. And, I'm not carrying my scale with my throughout the restaurant. Although I'm sure that would be a sight to see :D . My diary is public if you want to see what I settled on. I tried to pick something between middle and high type options, and hopefully I'm not too far off. There is the misc. "plate" option too, but honestly I'm staying away from the fried sugary goodness this go 'round, so I have a hard time believing I'm going to be eating 1000+ calories. Sorry for the ramble! Thoughts? Strategies? Rants & Ramblings to add?? Thanks!

I figured it out... I guess I just needed a good rant. FWIW for the lurkers, the hibachi grill is the way to go, load up on the veggies for a filling and lower calorie option. I think I managed to stay under 600cal with this!

Some things are just hard to log. Like mom's homemade spaghetti sauce...a pinch of this, a pinch of that. I finally just left it off the log. I'm a little frustrated with the database in general and I wish they'd do a cleanup every now and then and get rid of the huge number of inaccurate and duplicate entries. When I try to log a new (to me) food, I get 20 different entries for it and 19 of them are wrong.

Right? I usually pick the 2nd worst if I'm not sure, but even then I'm not confident it's right. Could i have had more and not known it? Did i just unknowingly blow my whole day? When eating out, I generally pick it apart and log it all separately. But at a buffet when you put a scoop of this, and a bit of that? Who knows. I guess the scale will tell me on my next weigh in. Lol.
