I'm prepping for my first comp and currently on around 1600 cals a day.

My diet is 95% clean and I eat regularly around every 2.5/3 hours, but seem to be feeling constantly hungry and getting the shakes..... sometimes 30 mins after eating! I'm wondering if this could just be a 'hormonal' thing?

I was constantly hungry when I ate that often... Eating less often, and eating my first meal as late as possible helped that.
No idea about the shakes though...4 -

Think I'd pass out if I ate less often. I've tried dragging it out but just can't make it!!! I wake up starving hungry and have breakfast just before 7am as I have an early start at work.0 -
Maybe you're nervous, maybe you're eating too little, or too little fat/carbs, or too little variety?1

Are you having caffeine? I've found that I get super shaky sometimes about an hour after I have caffeine - like I might faint. It doesn't always do this, but sometimes it does. You might also check your blood sugar.1

Could be a hormonal thing (if your period is due soon, that's probably it). Could be that your 'clean' diet doesn't include enough carbs, and that's what typically makes me feel horrible.2

Blood sugar drops can cause the shakes.... try decreasing your sugar and carbs or changing the types of carbs that you are eating or increasing the fiber you are eating.
I have blood sugar issues and I have found that if I eat 2 HB eggs with 100 g of cold steamed potatoes with skin, my blood sugar is fine and I am not hungry for at least 4 1/2 hours. The same if I eat 8 oz. mixed vegetable chopped salad (red and green cabbages, carrots, broccoli, jicama, bell peppers, radishes and celery) with apple cider vinegar and salt topped with 3 oz of minimally processed poultry or fish. I have a mid afternoon snack of peanut butter or an EPIC bar (basically a dehydrated meat patty). Dinner is usually a protein, non-starchy veggies and a small amount of simple carbs (like rice, pasta) or a protein, non-starchy veggies and winter squash or sweet potatoes or small amount of canned beans.
This helped me a lot.
You may also want to invest in an inexpensive blood glucose meter and check if it is blood sugar related, just to be sure. If it's not, make an appointment with your health practitioner.

I don't have caffeine at all! Blood sugar is a possibility though - thanks0 -

Now you mention it, I did notice it around the time my period was due and now the dreaded time of the month is here, I'm still feeling the same!0 -

It definitely feels like a blood sugar issue - I used to have hypoglycemia but haven't had the symptoms for a while until recently.0
