eating rotten food and water weight gain

Right, a bit of a tmi question...
for the past few days I've been gaining more 'weight' than I usually do with regards to water retention. My intestines are also kind of acting up a bit, as if I'm minutes from getting diarrhoea due to eating something out of date/unclean/otherwise not suitable for eating.
I just noticed that the cooked ham I currently put on 5 slices of bread each day has been out of date for just a bit more than since I'm gaining 'weight'. Oopsie!
That would certainly explain the upset intestines, considering that meat products from this supermarket are really out of date on target. I have a slightly stuffy nose (dry air related, no allergy or cold), thus I didn't notice that the ham is slightly smelly.
So ehm.. might there be a connection?
(yes, I do use a scale, yes I'm in a deficit, yes I'm on the pill in longterm cycle and thus don't have tom
)

I hoped you stopped eating the ham. Check your weight in a few days. Feel better.0

Do you usually eat that much ham? (You're putting it on five slices of bread -- so I'm assuming that's quite a bit of ham.) Ham is salty. Salt can cause water retention.
Diarrhea is generally dehydrating, but if you're only cramping, and not actually having lots of watery bowel movements, I suppose you could be drawing and extra water into your intestines and just retaining it there -- but that's just supposition based on what seems logical -- I've got no research to back that up.3 -

But yes, either that or similar chicken. Can’t have a choice of stuff for bread at home as it turns bad too quickly.
I do eat quite a lot of salt for a health issue, but my water weight never shifts more than 400gr upwards in a workweek (deskjob) and goes down on weekend (more active). You might be right about more fluid in intestines as it’s not visible. At least I’m down again a bit since yesterday.0 -
Ugh! So I guess it wasn’t rotten ham but an actual stomach bug lingering. Sick now, as are several of my colleagues
Glad I took a soup out of the freezer this morning. Meh: I put too much sambal in it when cooking it1
