Any explanation? Long story shortened: was 147 ( my highest), panicked, ate less by a lot, exercising two times (treadmill, light weights, bikram yoga) a day about 4 days a week. . Got to 123 (my goal was 135 where I seem to level out). Moved, had injury, less exercises, self-pity eating, holidays- gained to 145. Panicked. Starting eating less ( smartly) in Jan 2018, started strong curves, jumped on scale, 141 lbs (only 3 pound loss) but tried on my size 4 goal pants and they almost fit the same as they did 20 lbs ago??! Was a little bummed to just see the 141, but happy with the pant size! What gives? FYI - 5’3, age 53, eating in deficit at 1280.

Does your scale need new batteries? Buying new clothes because you are getting heavier kind of sucks. So your problem doesn’t sound like a problem at all. Way to go!

recomp - losing fat mass and gaining muscle - its slow and steady, but that isn't uncommon - my weight is currently up (mid-150's) - but all my pants that were tight at 150 are now loose

Call it a win and keep up those strong curves. It’s working.

Body composition > weight. Its why weight is an ok measure but not the end all. When you have more muscle, you tend to be leaner.

I’d test with multiple clothes just to be sure

Funny, the one thing I always can safely gauge by is my watch.

At one point my best friend and I both was wearing the exact same pants. They were snugger on her than on me. She was also 20 pounds lighter than me and the same height.

I'll definitely say I'm about 11 lbs away from what I was at my lowest (that I recall), but I was able to easily able to fit in a dress when I weighed less. I was confused but realized that it's the strength training I've been doing. Clothes fit me looser even though I'm heavier but I've built up muscle.

I'm super happy about it. I feel healthier and physically better because before, I was doing weights but no where to the extent I am today; I have a trainer. I think I look better now because I have muscle. I'm still going to aim to see where I'm at after those 11 lbs.

    Congrats!!

Thanks for all the replies! Good news/bad news? I’m fitting my my clothes, (good news) but am I fooling myself that I’m eating in a deficit then, having just lost just 2-3 lbs max in 6 weeks? :/
