I mean, I can definitely understand the mindset behind the summer body thing (sometimes I have thought about it for myself given that I automatically have more of my body showing at that time of year). But I guess since I do maintain a certain leanness year round, and I'm not even sure that I know anyone IRL that's into the whole "cut for summer" thing, that's why I think of it differently.

I don't have a "summer body thing" but I teach and work outdoors over the summer. So I'm just more generally active over the summer.

Plus... Halloween thanksgiving Christmas New Years valentines day!!! It feels like food holidays are a little more spaced apart in the spring and summer.

Are you kidding? I do my weight training completely for vanity reasons. Personally, I have no life reason to get a better build. But I do maintain my habits all year. It's just that the goals change. Fall n winter are more about lifting, spring n summer are more cardio, being a triathlete. I do both all year, but focus differs.

I start to lean out by the end of June. I'm not comfortable in a bikini at the body weight I walk around at in the winter. Same for dresses. I want everything looking trim and fine.

Let's try this again since I can't read negatives lol.

If you can sustain a summer body and that's your goal go for it. Many people just can't sustain it all year round, but unless you want to do a bulk-cut you probably want to stay pretty close so you don't have to do a lot of cutting. I usual start my summer cut around now, even for 5-10 pounds, so I can do a relaxed cut and have time to do a reverse diet and recomp for the summer.

At the end of the day it’s all about how you feel about yourself. No one else’s opinion should really matter to you unless you are unhealthy. Good luck and stay focused!
