Diet Only...

I'm trying to lose as much weight as possible with diet only. Not trying to eat "too" clean, as my addiction for fast food and soda will come back to haunt me. But if I continue a 1200 cal diet which is less than I burn daily, will i continue to lose weight or will my body get used to the diet???

I lost ~120 pounds staying at 1350 calories per day while extremely sedentary. I started some exercise (walking) when I got close to goal which let me increase my calorie intake.
Your body won't get used to the diet (aside from a bit of adaptive thermogenesis) but weight loss will slow as you lose weight because it takes less energy to run a smaller body and so you will have less of a difference between what you consume and how much your body uses.5 -

At 1200 calories relatively anyone who is not the size of a child or elderly will lose weight. Adaptive thermogenesis will happen but the amount of change in your metabolism it causes is negligible and won’t affect weight loss as long as you keep track of your TDEE and continue to recalculate it as you lose weight and become more active. Now, 1200 is the bare minimum for a woman which begs the question, have you chose this cap because you’re trying to lose weight quickly? While it will work, losing weight is ultimately about making permenant life changes. I’ve seen many women eat no more than 1200 calories a day only to become lethargic and irritable and gain the weight back when they don’t see results in a matter of only a couple months. If that’s what works for you then that’s what works, but know that you don’t necessarily have to jump off the deep end when it comes to weight loss.

1200 works for me. I choose foods that keep me full all day and help my nerve and muscle condition as well ( why I want to lose weight with diet first )0

For many 1200 (if actually logged accurately) can be too quick a weight loss. That amount is really suitable to the really short, sedentary or elderly brigade. For example, I am in my mid 40's, 4"11 and now 95 pounds. My TDEE, assuming a sedentary lifestyle, is close to 1600 calories. At 1200 even I would be losing nearly 1 pound a week. If you find you are struggling and always hungry then use online calculators to work out your TDEE to discover how much you can eat and still lose weight.4 -
I'm pretty sedentary, I've been doing the 1200 cal thing for 2 months and it's been great. I drink black coffee and a lot of water that really helps with hunger. I eat lean cuisines, eggs, oatmeal, etc. I've bounced around different ways of eating to lose weight and this is really sticking. If I feel hungry to eat more, I will within reason1

If I were only eating 1200 calories I wouldn’t wait until after I lose weight to work out, but that’s just me. It will be much harder to up your activity level than if you were to remain at least somewhat active throughout your diet. It’ll also help to preserve muscle mass moreso than diet alone and if you eat back half of your excercise calories that would mean you get to eat more in a day. Being active and especially lifting weights can up your TDEE as well. Different strokes for different folks, it’s whatever works for you but that’s my .02.
