Big Events the Last Three Weeks, Bad Eating Choices...

So..... the last three weeks have been something else. We had Valentines Day... I ate Chili’s and definitely splurged... Last week was my fiancé’s birthday and we had Olive Garden... tomorrow is my fiancé’s dads birthday and we are more than likely eating Texas Roadhouse... I’ve do good all day on these days except for dinner, which is the worst meal to splurge... I always get right back to my eating plan afterwards, but eating the food makes me feel sick to my stomach... I do t know if t is because I feel guilty because I’m eating it, or if it is because it’s not good choices... either way, I really don’t like February lol

Look for the healthy items on the menu. Just because you are going out doesn't mean you have to splurge. You can also request substitutions - veg instead of the carbs (make sure it isn't battered and/or drenched in oil), sauce on the side, etc. There are plenty of options in restaurants, you just have to make sure you look for them.

It is all down to you. You need to learn how to reign yourself in on special occasions, from what it seems. If you are able to do that, you will likely do better overall. Nobody else can make the choices for you.

    Also. Hiiiii, fellow Amanda!

You are completely right! When we went to chili’s, I did make modifications to what I ordered. When we went to Olive Garden, I ordered Shrimp Scampi, which I would never order. I ordered it only because the calorie content was low. I never drink soda or sugary drinks anymore, which is good for me... I used to drink multiple cokes a day... horrible, I know. Thank you for your input and suggestions! I will definitely use them to make better choices for me, because you are right... the only person that can make the choices for me is me...

    Lol another Amanda...

Texas Roadhouse? Can't you get a steak and vegetables there? Seems like an easy place to play it cool.

Girl, my weakness was mountain dew and/or juices. So much juice. A huge, giant jug of grape, cranberry, or apple juice. I thought it was good for you... Allll the way up until the ulcers hit and/or the heart palpitations began. /sad

Remember, if you know the general calories, you can plan appropriately! If you know where you are going ahead of time, plan the calories into your day ahead of time, and eat around that. You can also request a box while you order. You can put half into the box to take home. Bam, pre-portioned yourself on the meal, too. And yummy leftovers!

Word. I get it. But it's doable. Takes a bit of planning and will power :)

I have no will power so I should listen to my own advice.

I know it! I love juices too and SWEET TEA! I quit all of it cold turkey... I only drink water now... talk about bland lol.. but I know water is the best choice for me to drink!

I did actually look at the menu and I already picked out my meal and with what I’m having for breakfast and lunch tomorrow, I’ll still be under my total calories allowed, so I’m happy about that.

I get the will power thing... lol. I’ve been doing pretty good otherwise... in the past, I would ruin my eating plan and then just make excuses every day for why I would continue... I don’t want that to happen again. I’m pretty determined this time

Have you tried those zero cal water flavorings? Mio, Kool-aid, off-brand ones, etc.

Just be careful, some actually have caffeine! Nothing like your heart freaking out to make you realize you grabbed the Mio "Energy" instead of a regular one...

    Yummy, tho.

You know, I sure have. They are pretty good too. I typically will have a strawberry water mix in. That’s it. And I will have an occasional cup of coffee just because I am a mama... I need the energy sometimes. I just don’t put a whole bunch of cream or sugar in it. I usually do a tablespoon of cream and 2 tablespoons of low fat milk.

I love me some coffee. There are some nice "Coldbrew" mixes out now-a-days. So far, my favorite are the 'Gevalia' brand ones. It is concentrated, so you add it to cold water. Suuuuper low cal and yummy! I dislike cream & milk in coffee (bad experience as a kid with what I thought was chocolate milk) so I drink it 'black', but their actual flavored stuff is amazing. Ridic low cal, too! 10 cal/serving, 8 servings in the jug (32oz). I actually make it last for quite a bit over 8 servings. xD Their recommendation of half water, half coffee makes for some strong af coffee already. Water it down a bit more, make it stretch. Yum.

    This thing

... I've been gushing about this at work, where I keep it. xD; Ignore me.

That isn't bad! :) That isn't much over. If this is over your recommended at weight loss, you are still leaving today in a deficit. If over maintenance, there is still time for a lil jog or walk.. If you have a gym membership, maybe hit the machines for 30min. Bam, can get back in the green, too!

I guess I just feel like anything in the red is horrible, no matter how much! You are right though! I’ll get a workout in to get back to the green! Thanks for offering me some moral support! You don’t know how much it means to me!

No problem! Remember, we've all been there! I'm actually down with my loss (roughly 100lbs down), but I stick around to help encourage, give advice, etc.
