I’m not sure if I’m doing this right. Do I calculate my activity level with or without my going to the gym? I would normally be sedintary for the most part but I have started going to the gym to help with weight loss.

If you’re going by MFP, without exercise. You then log it and eat at least a portion of your calories back.

Because the gym is not usually an everyday thing the above poster is correct. Set yourself as sedentary and then on days you go to the gym add that to your exercise category and eat back about 50-75 percent.

If you are mostly sedentary then that's what you should be set at here and then log your exercise (and you get to eat those calories back).
