Log EVERYTHING and stick to your calories
Move/exercise a bit more
Expect your weight loss to plateau occasionally

Hey if I can do it why not you? I say that a lot if someone else has done something they are no smarter or better than me I can follow. Never let that inner voice stop you or an outside one either.2

Don’t think about 30lbs.
Calculate a calorie deficit, start a food diary and try to get a downward trend going. After a couple of weeks does 5lbs seem possible? If yes, keep going. If no, what reasonable modifications can you make? Keep repeating the process.2 -
Whether you say you can't or you can, you'll be right.Don’t think about 30lbs.

^^That.
One foot in front of the other, every day, is going to get you somewhere over time.
So do that. Every day.
Consistency + Persistence + Time

You can do it! It is a lifestyle change. I started on a LCD and log my food here everytime I eat. I can see all my calories. I have not exercised this last week and shed a few pounds by eating right. I am 44 so I know it is not easy! If I can do it,you can too!!0

Have you mentally made the decision to lose the weight? I had success when I had a "last straw" moment. It was then that I had the will power to follow the MFP guidance, use its tools and engage in the MFP community. You need a plan (MFP guides you to that) and a support system (MFP community can provide that too). The decision to really do it is key. It is easy to think you want it but you might be fooling yourself. If you start and stop on a diet you might not have REALLY decided to do it. It's almost a hit bottom experience you have to have in order for that switch in your brain to click. Once that happens you will be able to do it.0
