old wives tale? true? not true?
oil, ground or capsules? [note: capsules would be my least favorite option]
how much should/would one consume in an attempt to cure knee pain between runs?
Note: shoes are good, have been checked.
I honestly think once I get skinnier and a little more fitter, I won't be experiencing this.

Where is you knee pain and when to you experience it?
I don't think Flax will help much if it is from a running injury. I have heard of it working for arthritis but nothing else.
However if you just want to take Flax for other health benefits go for it!
I would check your pronation and make sure your shoes are correct for your gate.0
