Logging exercise or using Fitbit sync?

I have a Fitbit and I also have been using the MapMyWalk app. Both are sync’d to MFP and my steps per day from the Fitbit are being calculated under exercise. I walk at a faster pace and according to my Fitbit I’m in cardio mode the majority of the time. So my question is do I log the walk too....for instance 3.5 for 1 hr? Or do I just off go off the step calculation that Fitbit is giving me? I don’t want to double log it. So far I haven’t eaten back my excerise calories, but would like to know in case I do. Thanks.

I have searched to forums but haven’t found an answer to this.

One of the main appeals to me of the Fitbit is that I don't have to log my exercise, it does all the work for me.

Since FitBit is already giving you calories for those steps, if you were going to log a walk in MFP separately, you'd be double counting.

I walk, run, and do a lot of other cardio. I have fitbit and MFP linked. I have found that Fitbit is good for the walking running, so I leave that as it is, and fitbit transfers over the additional calories and the step count.

If I do other cardio, for example a BodyCombat class or rowing, l'll log it on MFP. As MFP and fitbit are linked, MFP then transfers it to the Fitbit. You keep the steps on fitbit, but the calorie burn for the period is overwritten by the MFP. However, use a HRM (myzone) to get a better estimate of calories burned as many of the entries on MFP seem to be a bit optimistic.

Why not just use the GPS/workout option in the fitbit app instead of MMY? It basically does the same thing, and there will be no chance of double logging exercise calories.

I did not know the Fitbit had this feature. I will look into it. Thanks!

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page via the app, click on the "+" and select "Track Exercise" Click play and you're ready to go :)
