Sore knees post strength training

I worked out with my trainer yesterday and he has me doing a lot of movements my body is not used to which is great but my knees are sore! I had a torn meniscus last year and had surgery over the summer so I'm just starting to push/test myself with strength training again. Anyone in a similar situation or knows how to build knee strength and any stretches I can do (especially at my desk at work) to help? Disclaimer after his assessment although I am physically strong my glutes and hips are weak so we did a lot of work on that yesterday.

You need to be careful especially with knees. Knee pain can have many causes so there is not a ready solution. It is better to get it checked out.1
