Lifting recommendations needed

Ex football player, got too big. Long story short, 51 yo male, 400+ lbs.
I used to lift alot when I was playing, years ago.
That was for explosive power, low reps, high weight.
I have a good grasp of proper technique, and used to to all the usual suspects (Bench, military press, curls, lat pull downs, leg presses).
I have a membership at a decent gym that has both free weights and machines.
Looking to start some sort of lifting regimen to compliment the 35 minutes/4X a week elliptical I have been doing for 2 weeks now.
I can do about an hour 3-4 times a week.
Any suggestions I am open to hearing them.
Thanks
Joe

I don't know what your fitness goals are, but a good program for functional strength & general conditioning for middle-aged folks is New Rules of Lifting for Life.0
