Burning Calories at Work?

I work very part time; only two days a week while I go to school. I get plenty of walking on campus from class to class but my work space is just a small gift shop. I can spend 5-9 hours here a day and I’m too tired when I get home so I’m wondering if there’s anything else I can do while here. I try to walk around a lot but that’s the extent of my imagination.

Help?

Workout in the morning before you go to work?

Walk or cycle to and from work

Do you get a lunch? If so ... walk then.

Is there a gym really close to where you work? Sometimes it works to go to the gym right after work, before you go home (or before or at lunch).

I usually work at four in the morning and already getting up at three kills me. So nope to morning.

Got to bed earlier so you're not tired after work?

I feel tired after work too but usually it’s from dehydration & blood sugar drop so try having a caffeinated drink and a carb snack before you leave to give you a lift ready for a workout? Maybe put on some motivating music whilst you get changed. Always take your kit with you or commit to meeting a friend so you’re less likely to back out.

Yes ... so I make a point of drinking a tall glass of cold water late in the afternoon, about an hour or so before I go home. That's usually enough to hydrate me and make me feel better. Sometimes, if I really feel tired, I'll drink a black coffee too.

I don't know how small the gift shop is and/or if you have freedom to do "projects" like moving merchandise around, cleaning, etc. I would imagine cleaning would be welcomed by management! haha But seriously that is something that you could do to burn a few calories in a small space. Maybe not a lot, but it's much better than just standing or sitting at least.

The only time of the day I can get a workout in with my schedule is early in the AM. I am up at 5:30 to meet a friend in the gym at 6:00. Knowing someone is waiting for me is huge motivation. Once you get used to waking earlier, there is no excuse for not working out. It has worked for me. Good luck!

Body weight Squats, lunges, push ups, planks, tricep dips, assuming you have times with no customers.
