First Time Sticking To My Weight Lose

Hi all! My name is Matthew and I’m 31 years old. I am a father, a husband, and a pastor. I love outdoors and activity. The problem has been my self esteem and confidence because of my weight. I currently am at 345lbs (was at 350 two and a half weeks ago). I began my fitness pal roughly 4 weeks ago and am serious for the first time in my life about shedding this weight. I made this decision because about month ago my 2 year old ran away from me and bolted towards the road. I was quick enough to get there, but it was too close for my comfort. No cars were coming, we live in a very rural area with extremely low traffic. (No negative comments please, I’m a great dad, terrible twos and ignoring parents are something children seem to think is hilarious at this age) back to the story, I was extremely winded and about 15 yards from the road... I realized then and there my weight and my years of excuses about my weight could have cost me more than I ever could have imagined. It is my driving force to lose this weight and be healthy, for myself, for my child, for my wife, and for a better and safer life. I guess I am sharing this to gain a support system. I want and need some friends on this community that will uplift me and I them as well. People that know what it is like to be this big and to keep each other focused and accountable to their goals. I am taking a chance here to reach out... I hope some others will too.

I don't have a lot of engagement with friends here currently and I'm in maintenance now, but as someone who used to be at 307 lb (now 169 lb) I want to say you are in the right place. Slow & steady wins the race. Focus on being better than yesterday and don't get discouraged if you hit a point where you're not losing as quickly. You will do well with tracking every bite you eat and it really works!5

Consistency is the key. Logging in should be a habit about now if you have been doing it every day.
For fitness, it is ideal to build up to your new habits. If you go from zero to sixty, you could end up injuring yourself.
And have fun: try new foods occasionally, try new ways of moving your body.1
