Beer Question

Without going into too much detail about my goals/weight. Does drinking beer at night have any other affect on weight loss besides adding calories? For instance last night I drink 5 beers but was still under my calorie limit by 500 calories.

Well, I was a beer drinker - now 54 days alcohol free. I lost about 20 pounds while still drinking, logging all of my calories. I lost an additional 8 when I quit. I wasn't eating as nutritionally as I should have been, choosing to forego food in place of alcohol. I'm editing to add that I still have a beer belly. Though I have lost about 3 inches by my belly button, it is still big. I believe all those alcohol calories increased the visceral fat. While I have lost other fat, some visceral fat remains. Being alcohol free now, I'm hoping it will dwindle.

I am a self confessed Beer monster. I have to significantly cut back to lose weight as even if I stay in my goal with the beers, it adds bloat.

I only have anecdotal data I've heard along the way, you could try and search NIH or pubmed for some actual facts. It would be relevant to plenty interests!
