Keep bouncing between MFP and WW App

I couldn't stand WW Freestyle so found an app where I can still do just smartpoints. Then I find myself thinking MFP will work better so go back to MFP...but then have doubts MFP will work. Why do I keep doing this to myself?!

Take a look at the Success Stories forum here.
I've never used anything other than this site. Lost 75+ pounds in 2007-08 and I've kept it off.
You have to commit to something and work it.11 -
I do the same thing.1

"You" are the one who must do the work, not the program .
MFP is straight forward fact based and helps you stay accountable because it is pure CICO that is all commonly available information. MFP does not use secret calorie counts or other numbers.
WW is based on a secret system that you are not supposed to understand.8 -
MFP works because math.5

Why not both? Using one doesn't preclude using the other.
Weight loss is about calorie balance no matter how you get there. The underlying math will always be there no matter which eating method you use.2 -

I guess because I have lost 20 pounds so far on WW and haven't stuck with MFP long enough to see if it does?1 -
Congratulations on your success!
Regardless of what tool you use to help you track calories, in the end the goal is the same. It's your choice how you get there. Personally for me, I found WW confusing and cumbersome to figure out points and nonsense. Tracking calories, is, as @fitoverfortymom very succinctly stated, "MFP works because math."

I'm doing the same. For me it's not a matter of which works better, it's a matter of consistency a and sustainability. I automatically check calories on packages instead of points. But in all honestly I'm not consistent in logging on MFP or WW, especially on weekends. I switch back and forth too. I woosh, weight loss slows, I gain, I switch, lather, rinse and repeat. It's self sabotage.
Ask yourself which plan will you want to stay on through working toward goal and maintenance? WW costs money and is frequently changing based on proprietary plans, yet members can make it work for them long term despite change, and there is free Lifetime. MFP is just counting calories in vs. calories out.
Whatever you choose to do, you have to be consistent.4 -
I also double track. I've always had great success with WW, reached lifetime in '03. I like that with MFP you can see nutrients/macros. My food preferences include a lot of the so called zero point foods and I was concerned that while WW says they're zero points, they are definitely not calorie free. An example was last Friday, we went to a seafood buffet at a local casino. Tons of "zero" point choices. When I got home and tracked my points, I came up with 9 points for dinner, had a 2pt lunch and 3 pt breakfast for a total of 14 pts. On MFP, my total calories for the dinner was 967, and total for the day 1479. I am allowed 23 for WW and am trying to keep at 1200 calories. I'm at my lifetime weight, just need to go to a meeting so I don't have to pay for online anymore. I'm 5 pounds from my personal goal weight and have been stuck here for a month. I just started Intermittent fasting hoping to shake my body out of this rut while still staying within my point and calorie ranges...we shall see...2

MFP works, been at goal for almost 5 years so I can confirm that3

I actually just cancelled my WW account because Freestyle doesn't work for me and I was having to make adjustments all the time just to get enough points per day since I eat a lot of "zero" point foods. So I was eating plenty of calories, but not meeting points goals. It got too frustrating for me, so I switched to MFP because I know CICO works because it's basic math and biology, really.1

Pay your $$$ and just do WW then. You've had success and don't mind paying stick with it.
I have done both and had great success with WW back in the 80's. When points rolled in.....not so much.
I love this sight and CICO methodology with tracking....good successes here.
Commit to something or both....only you know!
