Getting sick after starting to Exercise more

After a few intermissions from exercising routinely because of injuries and laziness, I have noticed that I often get sick a little while after starting up again.
I am wondering why I am see this pattern and if I am the only one.
My theories for this are
1. Its just an incredible coincidence,
2. These virus' are just festering inside of me and exercise makes them percolate out,
3. I am working out too hard and my immune system cant keep up with stress.
Whatever it is it is really unmotivating
Can anyone else relate?

Depending on how long these intermissions are, maybe you're going too hard too fast and need to ease back into exercise. Also make sure you're fueling yourself properly, under-eating and over-training can do all sorts of things.1

Are you working out in a public gym? Or it could be coincidence.0

I'm not a germaphobe, but I worry about germs at the gym, so I disinfect every machine I use thoroughly before I use it.0
