After reading alot of comments here about diet and hormones since yesterday, I am very sorry to say that many of you guys know tits and bits about alot of things but fail to understand how they correlate.
I will leave this post here with a quote:

Fung is a complete quack.
Eat at a deficit, including yummy carbs. Lift heavy weights. That will get you the body you are wanting.8 -
This would probably be a good time for you to go back to keeping this thread about abs.
Read that link about the "So you want a nice stomach," and maybe abandon this line of argument about Dr. Fung.7 -
I am 40 and lost 45 pounds at age 38 on a lot more than 1400 calories per day (but I was exercising a lot). I've since basically kept it off, give or take a few pounds. MFP's calculations were pretty reliable for me. I even did all right using the values from the exercise database.
I lost inches everywhere but maintained a belly. I thought it was just genetics. Turned out to be a 16cm fibroid! All health indications were normal (thyroid, blood glucose, cholesterol, etc.). A doctor found a mass in my abdomen during a routine physical (hadn't been to a doctor for a few years before that). I hadn't even known it was there because I couldn't palpate the mass when I was standing up. No amount of abdominal exercise could've fixed that and I didn't even know about it.

Fung has no idea what he’s talking about. Diabetes is largely caused by obesity and genetics.
We’ve given you our advice and left links to look through. Other than that, there isn’t much you’ll be able to do for your stomach if you won’t heed what we’ve said.4 -
OP, why the insistence on abdominal exercises when all these experienced posters have pointed out there's more to it than that? And BTW, your original post didn't ask anything about ab exercises, but simply for suggestions as to what you might be doing wrong. And actually, you're doing well, except that your weight loss has been a little aggressive with so little to lose and your expectations are rather unrealistic for only having been at this 6 weeks. People keep referring you back to this thread ( https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1161603/so-you-want-a-nice-stomach/p1 ) for a reason- modest calorie deficit, strength training, adequate protein, & patience, patience, patience. There's no magic exercise that's going to eliminate belly fat in a matter of a few weeks.5

Fung is a crackpot woo peddler who either knows nothing about, or willingly chooses to ignore, basic physiology. He's another one like Dr. Oz who has sacrificed his integrity and credibility to the almighty dollar.
For those who aren't True Believers in his woo, here's an evidence-based analysis debunking his ridiculous rhetoric:

my metabolic disorder is considered a part of metabolic syndrome. I have no issues eating carbs. I still lose weight and my health markers also improved. I have to eat low fat,low cholesterol and high fiber because of it. my health issue puts me at risk for strokes, heart attacks and even diabetes.for me high fat would make my issue worse(trust me I did keto for awhile and I thought I was dying 2 months in).
I also do intermittent fasting and it has not made any difference compared to when I stopped fasting for awhile. I have been doing IF all my life basically since, even as a kid I didnt eat breakfast. even when I became obeses I had no problems with diabetes or anything else. Oh and I was thin and at a healthy weight all my life eating carbs,up until my mid 30s(I will be 44 in a few months).
what caused me to become overweight was eating more and moving less, I was eating "healthy" carbs fruits and veggies and still gained weight. it had nothing to do with my hormones or insulin as I have blood work every 3 months and all those results came back normal every time.
so fung would be wrong in my case and in many other cases. many people here who have diabetes also eat carbs and dont do any special diets and many have reversed their diabetes or improved the need for insulin just by losing weight. I guess those people are special snowflakes on that regard then. granddaughter. even thin people can be diabetic.5 -

Too bad you need knowledge in the first place.2 -

Your quote is ironic. I strongly suggest you do some research on your own about him. You'll quickly find out that he's not a reliable source. I urge you to look at real research and studies so you can fully understand this.
If you feel so strongly that you're correct, why not try to prove us wrong? Could you post some real research papers ,peer reviewed studies on the matter from reputable sources?3 -
angeldarkside wrote: »Like I explained, the underlying pathophysiology remains the same as mentioned in the studies you quoted above.
I wanted to know more about machines at the gym as I am new to that and hence my question about which machines to use for a abdominal core work out.
Then why didn't you just say that in your opening post instead of rambling on about starvation mode and cortisol and cheat days, which have nothing to do with ab excersises.
