Hi. I have a ice cream maker. I thought it was going to be easy to find lower calorie options for homemade ice cream or yogurt. I have spent a lot of time on Pintrest looking for recipes with no luck at all.

My first attempt was a bust. I just tasted like bananas and watered down chocolate.
Do you have any good recipes THAT YOU HAVE TRIED and can share?

Thanks.

I have an ice cream maker, too, but I only make the regular kind from my recipe book and try to limit to half-cup portions.

We often make fruit sorbets that taste lovely. Take ripe and sweet soft fruit and blend them up well in a blender, then you can pop them into the ice cream maker as-is and just make sorbet.

If it is hard fruit, lik apple, just cook until soft and then cool before blending, etc...

Recipes we have done are very simple.
Watermelon or cantaloupe plus lemon juice . Has to be very aweet and ripe or is not good. Watermelon and mint works too.

A really nice one is cooked apple (until very soft) with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The color turns a pretty caramel, and the cooked apple seems to thicken a little nicer than some other fruits. It tastes like someone made apple pie sorbet.

Oh I will try fruit sorbets! Thanks. That will even be better once the fruit is in season, yum!

I made a raspberry chocolate chip frz yogurt on Sat. And I forgot to put in the chocolate chips. It was super good anyway.
