Weighing less mid-day

Arent you supposed to weigh less in the mornings and evenings and more in the afternoon? I have discovered I actually am about 2 lbs lighter around lunch than I am in the mornings which is the opposite of everything I've read. When do you weigh yourself?

Did you go #2 between weighing yourself in the morning and at lunch? Did you drink anything/eat lunch and THEN weigh?
What's important is that you pick a time to weigh and stay consistent, keeping the conditions as close to the same as possible.3 -
Did you take your jacket off? Or do a really big poo? Really.. 2lbs is negligible when you consider all the factors that can influence your weight throughout the day. I wouldn’t bother thinking about it too hard.1

I generally weigh myself in the morning before breakfast. I was showing someone my cool new scale around noon the other day and weighed myself and was 2 lbs lighter so for the past couple days I have weighed myself once in the morning once in the afternoon just to see the difference and I'm consistently lighter in the afternoons. I eat both breakfast and lunch before weighing myself in the afternoon. No bowel movements or anything.1

A gravitational anomaly, I bet3

I could also see weighing less mid-day if you've had a hard workout after your AM weigh-in and haven't re-hydrated. I have no idea how much that might account for, but it's a thought. /shrug1 -

Sorry, off track.
But the gravitational anomaly made me think of being light headed after a liquid lunch and would it affect the scale
Sorry, no reasonable explanation comes to mind @kaykayolson93.

Well...unlike most people. I don't get to do number 2 more than once a week so I don't weigh less in the morning. I weigh less in afternoon or early evening, before dinner time.
However, I do weigh everyday in the am just because that's what most people do. But feel like its not accurate when you know you have 5 days of waste in you. Once I go I lose between 1-5 pounds immediately. It's frustrating for sure.1 -
That's really interesting and I don't have a good explanation for it. Other people have already mentioned all of the things I would have expected. Maybe your own body's water weight fluctuation patterns are coming into play as well.
I would chalk it up to being just a weird thing that your body does, and just make sure to weigh yourself around the same time each day. It doesn't really matter whether you weigh in the morning or afternoon as long as you're consistent. Remember that you're looking for a trend on the scale rather than just the actual numbers themselves, so you'll want comparable data for each day.1 -
Lol okay now more weirdness. And let me clarify I don't think it's a big deal I just think its weird. So I weighed myself first thing this morning no food in my stomach empty bladder and it was 187.6 waited a couple minutes weighed myself again just to make sure it was accurate and not just changing every time I use it. It was the same. Than I ate breakfast (oatmeal) and drank some water. So I should weigh more right. Well I than weighed myself and I weighed 184.8. So weird.1

Wait! You said no weirdness! So weird! Sounds like you may need fresh batteries?1 -

This, or you ate some of that negative calorie oatmeal.2 -
I often weigh less mid day than in the mornings (when I was weighing myself often). I've posted about the variables in this process and still find myself alone on an island with this opinion: It absolutely does not matter when you weigh in a given day.
There are way too many variables and fluctuations in your body to possibly create the "same conditions" from one day to the next. That's why we trending apps that cover weeks, not days, and especially not hours. It doesn't matter if I weigh myself at the same time of day 8 weeks from now as I did today.2 -

Lol I said now more weirdness not no more weirdness. It's definitely weird. Lol.0 -

I usually weigh less in the late afternoon than in the morning. Meh, so what? Weight fluctuates. Drink 2C water, you'll weigh another pound, guaranteed. Sweat the equal amount (not that hard), it's gone again. Eat, drink, urinate, defecate, sweat - up/down, up/down. Weight changes, NBD.
Look at it this way: We don't have a true weight. Rather, we have a current weight range of a few pounds, and a long-term weight trend (up, down or level).
The current range is showing up when you weigh yourself multiple times the same day, or over a few days: Up, down, sideways. The trend shows up over weeks to months, and lets you know whether you're gaining, losing or maintaining. A weight-trending app can be a help (examples are Happy Scale for iOS, Libra for Android, Trendweight, etc.).
Don't stress, all is well. Best wishes!2 -

I've had this happen to me before too. It is kind of weird.0
