Quick go to meals when eating out

If you need to pickup a healthy meal in a hurry, where do you go, and what do you get/eat?

I’m on the go a lot, and don’t really have time to cook all day, I’d prefer to just pick up something and thought a Chipotle chicken bowl would be healthy enough...but not really sure.

So what are your favorite go to meals to pickup when you’re out and about? :)

The Habit...grilled chicken salad, only 410 calories. It's yummy!

Because it happens a lot, I make every effort to bring something along in a lunch cooler:

Hummus and a mix of raw veg.

Kale salad mix, feta, olives, shredded rotisserie chicken, smoked salmon or fake crab meat.

Red cabbage and left over meat of any kind. The peppery taste of red cabbage is awesome! Add goat cheese when it goes well with the chosen protein.

    Leftover roasted veggies with cheese.

In a crunch, I try to have protein bars and/or nuts around to hold me until I am done running errands.

The time it takes to prepare most of these is less than the time to wait in line at a fast food place.

Salad with grilled chicken is available at most fast food places. Get a low cal vinnaigrette if possible.

Chipotle is a good option because you can customize it. I get a bowl with steak, fajita veggies, pico and cheese. Sometimes I get guacamole on the side and then eat half the bowl now and half later.

My favorite go- to is to find a grocery store with a hot bar. Usually some great options at Whole Foods.

Honestly, I don't really go very healthy in those situations. I try to just grab something that fits my calorie allotment for the meal and has protein. So it's usually a double burger, half bun, anywhere they do those. Or two chicken strips from McDonald's. Steak & egg six inch at Subway with veggies.

I'm too cheap to pay for a fast food or fast casual salad, honestly. I'd rather make about six of my own salads than get one at Panera!

Chicken & steak bowls at Chipotle are one of my favorite foods but a little higher calorie so I don't usually go to those in a pinch. Still...yum! When I do get them I usually choose beans OR rice and that helps keep the cals down if I am trying to do that. And I always choose their sour cream over cheese or guac.

Don't eat in a hurry. Eat at home, at the start and end of your day. If you can cook, you don't have to spend all day cooking.

I know there is much wrong with it, but subway is just the lesser of fast food chain evils... Turkey cheese

Chipotle is my go-to because it's so easy to customize to my calorie goals. Panera is usually my second choice, but Subway works too. Or Taco Bell.
