Alright so I have been on and off for a while now. My family goes out to eat almost daily which means it screws up my eating. My family doesn’t give much support in my losing weight. What do you do when you don’t have physical support and you feel sabotaged?

Pick something that fits within your goals or eat light during the day to save some calories when you go out to eat with your family.8

Do they give a clue where they will be going?
Planning is for success.
And while the stated calories for restaurant food is decently inaccurate - it's better than spur the moment guesses.
Once you start seeing what those dinners (guessing it's dinner) average calories are - you can adjust rest of the day to fit them in.
By selecting the better choices that are usually there.7 -
Like said above, planning is the key. If we do fast food, I know ahead of time that I can get away with a burger, small french fry, and side salad for a meal. Other restaurants, a reasonable portion of grilled/baked/broiled/steamed.... chicken/pork/beef with vegetables for a side dish and a salad. Chinese? I know I can make hot and sour soup and beef broccoli work if I lay off the rice.
The point is to use the MFP app ahead of time to explore your options and work out meals that will fit in your dietary budget, then sticking to it. I learned that the hard way one day. We went out to eat at a popular Australian themed restaurant for dinner one night. Steak, lobster tail, veggies and salad- perfect! That stupid onion and part of some other appetizer that wasn't even good enough to recall right now? It sunk me for that day. Had I looked that up ahead of time, I would have known better. Now I do. Live and learn.3 -
I generally plan before I even go or if that's not possible at least plan while I order. There are a variety of things I usually can get on the menu that will fit within my diet. I generally look at the menu as well as MFP and other apps to see the nutrition facts of items before I order them so I know they will fit within my goals.2

Option go once a week check out the menu and you are still being sociable or have your dinner early but still go and explain not hungry but could still have light starter.1

i lost 100 pounds - most of that when i was with my ex, and we ate out once a day usually. it was quite often, but not always, my only meal, depending on what it was. and no one says you have to eat all of it.4 -
Ask for a to-go container to come out with your meal. Immediately place half of the meal in the container and then eat the remaining.5

I'm curious: WHY are they going out to eat every day?5

Plan ahead if possible by keeping other meals lighter. Drink diet sodas or water, not something with alcohol in it or fruit juice. Skip starters and deserts, and apply common sense as to what possible ingredients may be. Clearly a cheese laden enchilada is going to be a worse choice than the chicken salad. Lastly, good luck - eating out makes good choices so hard to make.1

Plan ahead in what you are going to order. Suggest restaurants that have vegetables as side dishes. Skip the fries. Take personal responsibility for your own actions.0

Try:
1) You can get support for your efforts here. Make some MFP friends.
2. Yes to planning your menu choices before going out for restaurant meals. Or stay home and make you own food.
3. Get in some extra excercise before you eat out. And/or eat a lighter meal during the meal before you eat out.
*My sister brought home a huge cheese cake from Costco yesterday. I can sort of relate to wanting to be away from temptation foods.
I see that cheesecake in the fridge as a challenge for me to stay on track. She doesn't support my weight loss efforts, but at least she will go to the pool with me twice a week. (She loves water jogging)
I worry for my sister and food choices, as her cardiologist told her he is worried about her.
I tried to talk her out of buying that cheesecake, because I know she can eat it all in a day or so. I suggested she go to a good store and buy one piece instead.
Healthwise her food addiction is truly endangering her health. She is well over 300 lbs. But it is her life. There is only so much I can do to try to steer her towards healthier lifestyle choices.
In the end, it has to come from her taking responsibility to make healthier lifestyle choices regarding her food choices.2 -
I eat out regularly, and it’s easy. Make good food choices and limit your portions. Limit dessert and drinks.1

Get support from mfp and eat out occasionally when you do go for smaller portions.
Not nice they are not giving you any support maybe there testing your willpower lol
I would be more determined to show then you can do it and the results you will get .

if your family sabbatoges you..(which happens with a lot of us)
1. don't announce or talk about your diet
2. try to look at the menu online ahead of time and figure out what you can eat .ie: grilled chicken salad...
3. be active on this forum to get the support you need.
4. If you are old enough and can do it.. buy your own food so you always have food at home to set up for success.0
