Gestational Diabetes Meals

Would love to have a thread with meals that keep your sugar numbers in check.. Share your favorite meals. Also, what are your OFF LIMITS foods that seems to spike your numbers?

Go to breakfasts:
Paleo granola with almond milk
2-3 eggs with sliced tomato or berries
Whole grain home made breakfast sandwich using sandwich thins
Off limits for breakfast:
Cold cereals
Orange Juice
Perfect Food Bars
I meal prepped according to the Plate Method

and ate that way for most of my meals.
Most Paleo recipes were good for me.
I also got 30min of moderate intensity activity per day. Around week 40 that looked like 3 brisk 10min walks.
I also needed a good night time snack. Here are my go tos:
-6oz 2%Fage with 1/2 cup blueberries and 3tbsp walnuts or slivered almonds
-an apple with either peanut butter or almond butter
Another trick I learned was adding sparkling water to my juice and having my juice in the middle of the day.
Here are things that would spike me all the time:
-Popcorn
-any full sugar baked goods
-fast food (especially French fries)
- red and yellow potatoes
- Protein bars (Rx Bars, perfect food bars, GoMacro bars) Quest Bars were fine
Going to the dietician and learning how to track on MFP and learning about diet exchanges was really helpful.0
