The right path for weightloss is a path that 1) creates a calorie deficit if you stick to it, for real, consistently, and for a long time, and 2) you are able and willing to stick to, for real, consistently, and for a long time.
Weightloss diets work through restricting calorie intake, by restricting food choices. Why would you choose a smothie diet (of all things?) It sounds boring, and hard to stick to.
Sugar is a carb, and carbs is just one of the macronutrients that provide calories. To lose weight, you have to reduce your intake of calories. You can eat anything you want. Moderate amounts of fruit is good for you. Basing your intake on fruit means that you're probably missing out on a lot of nutrients that you need.
If you use MFP as it's intended, you'll lose weight efficiently and painlessly.3 -
If you like smoothies and want to drink them as part of an overall balanced diet, you will find plenty of recipes on Pinterest.
However, smoothies aren't anything magic and won't cause weight loss, a calorie deficit causes weight loss and the best plan for weight loss is something that you can do long term. If it's not something you can see yourself doing for years and years as part of your future weight maintenance then it's probably not worth starting because you'll just end up back at square one if you don't learn how to moderate your food intake.
Instead consider setting yourself a reasonable rate of loss and making smaller changes to your existing diet to get you to your calorie goal, for example:- Reducing portion sizes by weighing out correct serving sizes (particularly useful for cereals, pasta, etc).
- Swapping to lower calorie versions of foods you already eat such as switching from full fat milk to low fat.
- Being mindful of empty calories like sugary soft drinks/coffees switching to things like diet soda, water, normal tea or coffee
- Being mindful of the calorie content of condiments and dressings
- Bulking out meals with lower calorie filling foods like vegetables or salad
