Too bad they couldn't have picked someone younger and better looking.

I really hope that's sarcasm. Otherwise, I am so sorry. You just don't understand Doctor Who.

It wasn't sarcasm. And did you seriously give me an elitist "you don't get x" statement?

It's Peter Capaldi you don't get - he's very delicious

Don't get me wrong, he's not bad for an older guy.

If he's good enough for the Vicar of Dibley, he's good enough for me   Just as long as they don't make him do an English accent :explode:

Hmm. I don't get why they chose someone who's canonically played other characters in both Who and Torchwood. It's very confusing! But I've not been wild about the last several episodes, so this may do me some good.

I think he is good looking, although obviously he's not 26 like Matt Smith. I read on Twitter that Capaldi is the same age as William Hartnell when he started. Hartnell looks decades older.

I missed Doctor Who the first time around. Despite all the hubbub, only the Reboot Doctors really interest me, and my favorites are Tennant and Smith. I only became a hardcore watcher with Smith, but in addition to liking him, I liked his coterie of characters better, as well as the plots. I like Christopher Eccleston in other things, but wasn't crazy about him as the Doctor. Maybe the series needed to get warmed up.

I'm so glad to have watched the classics. They make me appreciate Doctor Who so much more. And I'm so glad they went back to the older generation.
