Apple only diet

Since I’ve been struggling to get back on my diet I decided to go on google to search for diets and I came across the apple diet. This is where you eat nothing but apples for 5 days I know it is a fad diet but I’m so bloated I’d be willing to give it a go since it’s only for 5 days so I was wondering has anyone else tried this and got results?

Why would you do this?
The only results I would anticipate would be water weight loss, not getting enough fat and protein, and being really sick of apples.
If you're bloated, why not just drink a reasonable amount of fluid, eat appropriate portions of regular food, and (if you feel up to it) doing some light exercise? This always clears things up for me.14 -
Better to figure out why you're struggling. Is your diet too restrictive? Cutting out too much at once? Overwhelming yourself? Figuring that out and dealing with it will help you far more than a fad diet. You want to be successful long term as well as short term.6

Yep. Any "results" are going to be very short-lived. Focus on reducing added sodium and drinking more water. Log your food and add in some fiber.4 -

why tho? Look what the nutrition facts are in a single apple. This is not even sufficient enough for you to function.
why not try eating several smaller meals during the day while adding exercise. Take out the carbs if you need to, but our bodies need carbs to convert it into energy

Why you would put your body through that? You would be basically starving yourself, also, would probably get sick of eating nothing but apples for 5 days. And even if you lost weight, when you start to eat normal again all the weight would come back.
And there's other ways of getting rid of bloating than going on a fad diet2 -
Gosh, please don't. You need protein and fat. Apples are sugar, vitamins, water and fiber. That's not enough to meet nutritional needs.
Fad diets are pointless and don't teach you anything about maintaining your weight in the long-term.
Do yourself a big favor and grab a $12 digital kitchen scale, use MFP Guided Setup to set your calorie goal, and stick to that calorie goal. It's that simple.4 -
As people have said that would be unhealthy. It's basically a lot of sugar with no protein or fat.
Besides, since OP didn't say how many apples that diet would involve. If it's only one, that would be simply starving yourself. If another hand it's an unlimited amount of apples, but nothing else, - in that case, for example, I would have no problem to eat 3000 calories worth of apples in a day if I didn't knowingly restrict myself and apples were the only thing I would eat.maryjane159 wrote: »I decided to go on google to search for diets

If your digestive system is troubling you, the last thing you want to do is eat a monodiet and overload it with one thing, not to mention possibly causing other problems to other body systems by shorting anything that isn't in apples.
Are you bloated like puffy and heavy with water? Or bloated as in gassy or backed up? What have you tried so far to alleviate it? And do you have any idea what's causing it?3 -
I think it would be pointless and not nutritionally adequate, but for 5 days it's not a big thing if you really want to do it. I imagine it would be hard to stick to and that you may ruin your liking for apples.
You will probably be on a VLCD so will lose some weight and then put it back on once you return to normal eating.
How it works digestively might depend on the person, I don't think it would agree with me.1 -

Mono diets are never a good idea.
Besides: You can eat a ton of calories just in apples. 20 apples (and trust me, you can get there quicker than you think) will cost in the ballpark of 2000 calories. Why not just eat regular food, if you're going to do that?0 -
Forget about getting back on your diet - I can tell from the fact that you're even considering this apple thing that your diet doesn't work. Instead, spend some time logging every single thing you eat every day for a week or two. Buy a food scale and figure out how to use it to measure your portions accurately. Don't forget about liquid calories or weekends or anything else. After you've done that, look at your log and decide on one thing to change that will lower your calorie intake. Make it something that you can commit to permanently, and give yourself some time to get used to it before making another change. Make easy changes at first, then start tackling the bigger issues. Be flexible, be creative, and don't eat a single apple unless you actually like apples. You really can do this, no tricks or jump-start needed. Good luck!5

The first thing to do when determining whether or not a diet is the right thing for you is to state your goals. Without knowing what you want the diet to accomplish, there's no way to know whether or not it's a good way to get results. You've given us two somewhat vague goals: get back on your diet and feel less bloated. Let's take those two as your goals.
1. Will it help you get back on your diet? General experience suggests that mono food diets rarely transition well into a different diet. They're hard to stick to, demoralizing, and boring. I assume that the apples for 5 days plan isn't going to be your permanent diet. If you want to get back on your diet, then get back on your diet. The real one. The one you plan to stick to, instead of some other diet that you don't plan to stick to.
2. Will it help with bloating? Okay, so people use bloating in a lot of different ways, but I don't see how a diet of mostly sugar and fiber is going to help with any kind of bloating. I'd expect it to make it even a little worse in some cases. If you want to help your bloating, figure out why you're bloated and treat the root cause.
There's a reason we don't send astronauts into space with one single kind of perfect food packet. Mono-diets don't last well and they can really mess with your enjoyment of life. If you haven't yet, look into S.M.A.R.T. goals. Pick apart what's making it hard for you to get back onto your diet and clear those obstacles instead of putting a different obstacle into your path.3 -
Yeah I agree don't do this it will do nothing but bad for you. Trust me. You will gain nothing when you go back to normal dieting by changing this after 5 days.0

Just eat a normal balanced diet. If you are struggling to stay on a diet it is probably too restrictive. If you have trouble sticking to one restrictive diet mostly eating apples for a week probably won't help.
If you are bloated mostly eating apples for a week probably will not help. Apples are known to cause bloating for some people. Since you like to google, look up apples and bloating.

I’m one more voice who would discourage you from undertaking this diet. There’s a study out that talks about the benefits of ursolic acid in apple skins for weight loss, maybe that’s the source of the apple diet, but why not just follow the old saying and eat one every day?0

When I was 18 I did a Dexatrim and tangerine diet for a couple weeks right after starting college. Lost 17 lbs. and had acid reflux and nausea almost the whole time. Then I got hit with a flu, and then bronchitis and pneumonia and lost 20 more. Wouldn't reccomend it though.3
