Do these numbers work?

Hi there. Anyone similar out there who can vouch for the MFP calculator?

I input my stats:

5’4”
Female
160 lbs
Nearly 34 years old

I’m lightly active, I think you could say. I ride my bike and/or workout a few days a week.

With that info it says I can have 1480 calories per day to lose 1lb a week.

Does this work? Has anyone else had success with similar stats and calorie intake?

I’m worried because I have lost weight and gained it a few time’s over and wondered if I should be having less.

I’m trying to get back to 145lbs.

Thanks!

Activity level refers to how busy you are outside of exercise and then you record your exercise separately.

The calculator is just a starting point based upon averages. Try it for a month or two and then adjust based upon your personal results.

Weight loss happens when you are eating at a deficit over time. If you ease up on that, you'll maintain or regain. Going back to the way you ate for your larger body means that you'll eventually have that larger body again. Experiment to find a way of eating that satisfies you while leaving you at a deficit (to lose weight) and then is workable for maintenance by adjusting your calories.
