I feel that when we start watching what we eat and/or start working out, the people around us who knows this tend to "encourage" us by saying what they think we want to hear. I do not believe that after a week , people can tell "how much you have slimmed down" but they will tell you this anyway. I tend not to really pay attention to these comments.

However...this weekend I went to my acupuncturist, who I have been seeing for a few months now, but wasn't aware of my weight loss journey. I am seeing her for other reasons.

After I got ready for my session, she comes in and says "it looks like you are losing weight."

YES!!! One of many NSV's to come!!:smiley:

It's so great when other people notice, genuinely and without knowing :) Congrats on your efforts and your NSV.

It is great when you get a response like that from someone who has no idea. What's really annoying is when a friend who knows you've been trying to lose weight, asks every other day, so how much weight have you lost, especially when you haven't lost any weight in 2 weeks. Sorry, my own little rant came through...

    No worries!!

I have tried to keep it to myself of what I am doing. Some people don't understand the process, others mean well, but they don't understand the struggle, etc. Of course I have my core group of people who know, but to others, I just say thank you when they make a comment (when and if).

I weigh myself every day, some days I go up, some down, at the end of the day, I only take into consideration the number on the scale that shows up on the first day of the month. And the number of the pink measuring tape that lives in my junk drawer.

Keep going, you will drop it if you keep going!

I SO cannot wait for people to notice! I'm trying not to tell anyone because I get obsessive about this whole weight loss journey thing, I did last time, and I don't want to annoy anyone. I'm really curious to see how much I will have to lose before I get my first comment.

How long have you been on this journey (currently)? I have been steadily trying to track calories for about 2 months now...but have been working out steadily since October and not as steadily since Feb last year..it takes time, but you will get there! :)

I lost a substantial amount of weight back in 2014, 307 to 165 on MFP. I hadn't been into see my doctor in about 2 years, from being diagnosed with PCOS. When I checked in and they did my vitals etc, they thought I was a different person. They were searching for my chart because the chart they had on me said I was over 300lbs. It took a few minutes to convince them I was who I said I was. LOL

I have PCOS too!! What changes did you notice regarding the PCOS after your weight loss?

Can totally relate - first comment was from my husband (kind of doesn't count as I live with him) - 2nd comment was from someone who I hardly see to talk to - she went out of her way to tell me how great she thought I looked yesterday! (unusual for her).

I'm keeping my mouth shut to most friends and will see if they notice when I see them next!
