What do you do about appetite? I know this sounds totally ridiculous, but my appetite is so maladjusted that even with eating bags and bags of green beans, spinach, cauliflower, etc. it’s really hard to not end up eating 4,000 calories a day! I’m very active, but definitely not active enough to lose weight with that intake!! Tips for satiety, please!

Fat free fiber doesn't keep me full very long either. My meals are always a combination of protein, fat and fiber.

Appetite is not the same as hunger and needing fuel, it's a desire to eat. Appetite is supposed to make us able to eat more whenever possible, so we don't end up dying from starvation whenever there's is shortage on food. It's a bit maladjusted to our current food environment, that's all. Most people overeat on hyperpalatable and easy to eat foods, but some people with eating disorders will overeat anything. Have you tried eating more balanced meals - protein, fat, starch and veg? And more varied - lots of different foods? And food you like?

I feel more satisfied when I get enough protein and fats. Vegetables help bulk out a meal but wouldn't satisfy me alone.

Focusing on my macros has really helped me the past few weeks. Having a balanced diet including enough fat and protein should help curb the appitite.

I've bumped up my intake of both eggs, protein bars, and nuts, and it has made a difference. Also, add a scoop or two of protein to your smoothies.

Distraction. I never feel ‘hungry’ when I’m busy, only when I’m bored.

Appetite for some, maybe even many people is only distantly related to what they eat; there’s a huge psychological component to it. I find that if I eat foods I want to eat, really appreciate them by eating slowly and mindfully, and then keep my mind busy, I just don’t get ‘hungry’.

It may be that other methods work for you. Pay attention to when you don’t feel hungry in order to find them :)
