The makings of a Cowboys hater...

American Football is my favorite sport and I've followed it since pre-school. I don't dislike basketball and baseball, just don't follow them. I've always wondered 2 things:
1) What makes for a true hater of a team, particularly NFL's Dallas Cowboys and NBA's L.A. Lakers?
I've spoken to many people over the years and such hatred sometimes borders on rabid/psychotic. On rare occasions it's simple division rivalry, but most often the people I talk to can't explain where it came from.
2) Who's the equivalent in the MLB? The one "everybody loves to hate"? The Yankees? If so, why them in particular?

Dirty pool, my friend. I will always hate the Patriots and the Saints for their cheating and dirty play. ALWAYS. And the fact that the Pats cheat their players with salary. And the Saints for ending Brett Favre's career and Viking's chance at a Championship finally. What they did was unforgivable and Greg Williams better not ever be let back in the league.
And I hate the Cowboys for having strippers in the stadium, and I ain't talking the cheerleaders.... they have gone too far with the exploitation of women. Cheerleading in the NFL is one thing, cage dancing is quite something else. Oh, and razing neighborhoods for the Arlington Attrocity with the nuisance of a big screen. And Jerry Jones for being a control freak - owners do NOT belong on the sidelines within those hallowed 60 minutes.
And then there's the rivalries. However, being a Vikings fan - I have mad respect for our division rivals, especially the Pack, and a sweet spot for the Lions.0 -
I have been a 49er fan since elementary school. I think I started hating the cowboys because they were a big bandwagon team at that time so I was always rooting for their opponents the underdogs.0

Go Cowboys.
People hate teams that win.0 -
I think it's because of Tony Homo... I mean Romo.0

Cowgirls suck! Go STEELERS!!!0

I think a lot of people dislike these teams because they are storied franchises with a lot of championships and their fans are mostly bandwagoners and like to rub it in other's faces about their championships that probably happened before their parents were even born.0

I am not a hater of the Cowgirls OOOPS I mean Cowboys, but I did dislike them because they whooped my team in the Superbowl in 96. At the time I was ten and remember crying like a baby.
Now I don't mind them and respect the team for all it's hard work and efforts. Also Sixburgh (steelers) has the most superbowl rings so I guess that makes us the best!
I meet people everyday that hate the Steelers with a passion. Anyway at the end of the day I would like to believe that it's just a game but for some it is more than a game. I hate to see my team lose but hey no team can win all the games.
Domestic violence increases on football Sunday's when a football upset occurs.
In fact, an upset typically leads to an 8 percent increase in police reports of at-home incidents where a man attacks a female partner. Upset losses in games involving a traditional rival had an even bigger effect on the rate of partner violence as did unexpected losses after games involving an unusual number of sacks, turnovers or penalties. According to th NY Times.
Really it's just a game that people take way to serious. The irony is I bleed black and gold.0 -
The Cowboys do their summer training camp here so you will find a lot of fans. Eh. I have gone with friends a few times and they were all for the most part went out of their way to be friendly to the fans.
I don't actually like football though, so I could care less either way.0
