Using the techniques I’ve learned from mindfulness, first of all its small C cravings. Let’s change this from a struggle to a passing thought. It’s just a small feeling. Ride the wave. Do you have any in the house? What would be a reasonable amount to eat? Get yourself a glass of water and your weigh scale. Sipping the water, weigh out the portion you will enjoy and carefully wrap up the remainder very, very well. Put away the package. Anticipate how good your small c crave is going to taste. Swirl some more water in your mouth and spit it out, preparing your palate for the small c.
Ritually eat your small c. Recall later how good it tasted and how much you enjoyed it. Finish your water.
Log it.
By STRUGGLING you reinforce the CRAVE and it seems to GROW in STRENGTH. You are reinforcing the crave compulsion.
By diminishing the crave to a manageable thing and allowing the feeling to pass through you without judgement, it loses strength and influence. Paradoxically you add to your pleasure by paying attention to the enjoyment. You reinforce the memory that with practice you can recall without eating it at all. You now need a fraction of the food for the same pleasure.10 -
